Shear Bliss supports regional agriculture, local and fair economy, and ecological balance, and is a founding member of the Feather River Fibershed, an affiliate of the Northern California Fibershed.
Lorraine is an artisan member of Plumas Arts, which is responsible for much of the quality of cultural life that many Plumas County residents have come to depend upon and visitors are attracted to. They also host a gallery for local artists and keep art programs in the county schools and the Town Hall Theatre open for movies and local performances.
Lorraine is a member of the Professional Artisans Cooperative , a vision that began with a small group of artists and has now grown to over 200 members. Hosting 7 of the best art and craft shows in Northern California, all shows feature 100% handcrafted items and a great selection of local and regional artisans. the co-op is a non profit that is committed to promoting the arts and helping the local communities.
Plumas Artisan Made is a branding, marketing and training campaign for local artists. Plumas Arts will combine a logo and website with promotional videos, brochures, labeling, in-store displays, and training and workshops for artist entrepreneurs in Plumas County. This brand will help people know with certainty that the art was made here in Plumas County. Lorraine is an artisan member of this campaign.
The Plumas Farmers Guild promotes Plumas County farming and Plumas County grown farm products in the local community. As a collaborative and resourceful group founded by farmers for farmers, they encourage sustainable growing practices that produce a resilient food system and a healthy environment. Shear Bliss at Four Winds Farm is a non-food member.
Wool from our Jacob sheep is used in making locally-crafted, felted goat milk soaps. Heaven Sent of Greenville offers a variety of goat milk products, which are a natural and gentle choice for skin care.
